SACRAMENTO— Today, Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes, Chair, and Senator Lena Gonzalez, Vice Chair, issued the following statement on behalf of the California Latino Legislative Caucus:

“We are heartbroken and appalled by the horrific mass shooting in Monterey Park claiming the lives of ten people and injuring a dozen more. The reports of further gun violence in neighboring Alhambra are equally concerning.

SACRAMENTO— El lunes, 5 de diciembre, la asambleísta Sabrina Cervantes (D-Riverside) y la senadora Lena Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) prestaron juramento a la Legislatura del Estado de California, marcando el inicio de su liderazgo como Presidenta y Vicepresidenta del Caucus Legislativo Latino de California (CLLC). Sus mandatos de dos años comenzaron el 5 de diciembre de 2022. Los presidentes están limitados a un mandato de dos años.

SACRAMENTO—On Monday, December 5, Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes (D-Riverside) and Senator Lena Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) were sworn in to the California State Legislature, marking the start of their leadership as Chair and Vice-Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus (CLLC). Their two-year terms commenced on Monday, December 5, 2022. Chairs are limited to one, two-year term.

SACRAMENTO—State Senator María Elena Durazo (D-Los Angeles) issued the following statement on behalf of the California Latino Legislative Caucus on Governor Newsom’s appointment of Dr. Diana Ramos as California’s next Surgeon General. Currently, Dr. Diana Ramos, serves at the California Department of Public Health’s Center for Healthy Communities where she leads the public health and prevention programs.

SACRAMENTO—On behalf of the CA Latino Legislative Caucus, Senator María Elena Durazo released the following statement on the Governor’s announcement that Associate Justice Patricia Guerrero has been nominated to be Chief Justice of the CA Supreme Court, effective January 2, 2023.

SACRAMENTO—Today, the California Latino Legislative Caucus (CLLC) elected Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes (Riverside) as the next Caucus Chair and Senator Lena Gonzalez (Long Beach) as the next Vice Chair.  Their two-year terms will commence on December 5, 2022.

SACRAMENTO—The California Latino Legislative Caucus (CLLC) announced today that Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes (D-Riverside) has been elected to fill the caucus Vice-Chair vacancy for the 2021-2022 legislative session. Comprised of 30 State Legislators (9 Senators and 21 Assemblymembers) including a record high 17 Latinas, the CLLC serves as a forum to develop avenues to empower the Latino community throughout California.

SACRAMENTO -  The California Latino Legislative Caucus has announced its nine honorees and one special guest for the 20th Annual Latino Spirit Awards: a diverse group of Latino leaders from throughout California and across various professions.

 

“As Latino Caucus Chair, I am so honored to recognize these ordinary men and women who do extraordinary things for the Latino Community,” said Latino Caucus Chair Senator María Elena Durazo. “They represent innovation and a spirit of struggle in labor, business, philanthropy and the arts.
