On Monday, May 6, 2019 the California Latino Legislative Caucus honored 9 individuals as part of our 18th Annual Latino Spirit Awards celebration at the California State Capitol in Sacramento. The honorees included:
· Cristela Alonzo (Comedian and Actress) in Achievement in Advocacy & Entertainment
· Ángel del Villar (Founder of DEL Records) in Achievement in Business & Philanthropy
· Albert M. Camarillo (Founder of the field of Mexican American history and Chicano Studies) in Achievement in Academia
· Dr. Carlos E. Cortés (Scholar of race and ethnicity and 2009 NAACP Image Award winner) in Achievement in Education & Media
· Dorene C. Dominguez (Chairwoman and CEO of Vanir Group of Companies, Inc. and first Latina to hold NBA ownership status) in Achievement in Business & Philanthropy
· Anthony Gonzalez (American actor and musician) in the Dynamic Youth Award
· Zuleima Flores-Abid (Programs Manager at the National Alliance on Mental Illness California) in Achievement in Public Service
· Antonia Hernández (President and CEO of the California Community Foundation) in Achievement in Philanthropy
· Reginaldo Francisco del Valle, a 19th-century California State Senator who was instrumental in forming the predecessor to the UCLA, will be recognized in Memoriam
