Legislative Luncheon: Fighting for Dignity and Justice for Incarcerated Californians and those Re-entering their Communities: A Conversation with Impacted Community Leaders

August 24, 2017

The California Latino Legislative Caucus, in partnership with the CA Equity Leaders Network, and the Asian Pacific Islander, Black, Jewish, Women’s, and LGBT Legislative Caucuses, is pleased to present our fourth annual speaker series for legislative staff. As California continues to grapple with one of the largest and most expensive prison systems in the nation, it is increasingly clear that the future of our state will be dependent on what we do to meaningfully invest and support our residents impacted by the justice system. In this session, speakers will discuss the dehumanizing nature of prisons and lack of basic human rights for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people and their loved ones, including women, youth, fam-ilies, and immigrant communities. This session will also include a focus on how state policy can ex-pand access to critical supports, services, and opportunities, and most importantly, dignity and respect, for this vulnerable population.

LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED.

Please RSVP to Lizette@ideatecal.com to reserve your space.
