CA LATINO CAUCUS CALLS TRUMP EFFORT TO UNDERMINE U.S. CONSTITUTION, “CYNICAL, RACIST”

SACRAMENTO – The following is a statement from Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) and Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego), Chair and Vice Chair, respectively, of the California Latino Legislative Caucus:

“This President is as utterly lacking in shame, decency and compassion as he is in his understanding of Constitutional Law. We all see his threat of usurping the 14^th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution with an Executive Order to end birthright citizenship for what it is – a cynical, racist effort to further divide Americans right before the mid-term elections at the expense of Latino-Americans. California’s Latinos will not stand by and be his punching bags. We will sue to enjoin any effort to undermine the constitutional citizenship of any American.”
