CA LATINO CAUCUS MOURNS THE LOSS OF VOTING RIGHTS LEADER ANTONIO GONZALEZ

November 12, 2018

SACRAMENTO – The following is a statement from Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego) and Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego), Chair and Vice Chair, respectively, of the California Latino Legislative Caucus:

“The California Latino Legislative Caucus extends our deepest sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of Antonio Gonzalez who passed away this past week. Our entire Caucus mourns the loss of a man who not only carried the mantle of ‘Su Voto Es Su Voz,’ but turned the cause of Latino voting rights into action. Through his Southwest Voter Education Project and the Willie C Velasquez Institute, he provided Latino activists and voters with the tools and skills needed to empower underrepresented communities. We honor his lifelong dedication to serving and lifting up his community. Descanse en Paz, Antonio, y que Siga la Lucha!”
