CA Latino Legislative Caucus Unveils 2019 Priority Legislation

SACRAMENTO – Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) and Senator María Elena Durazo (D-Los Angeles), Chair and Vice Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, today announced the Latino Caucus’ 2019 policy priorities and priority legislation.

 

“The California Latino Legislative Caucus takes pride in pushing the envelope and setting the Legislative agenda in California.” said Assemblymember Gonzalez. “We know that the policy priorities we unveil here today make a real difference in the lives of all Californians. While Washington D.C. dithers, we continue to make progress for hard-working Californians.”

 

“This year we have identified 15 bills as legislative priorities,” added Senator Durazo. “We will continue our efforts to protect the rights of all Californians on issues such as health care, education, economic development, housing, homelessness and civic engagement.”  

 

Members voted to declare the following fifteen bills as the Latino Caucus’ 2019 priority legislation:

  • AB 16 (L. Rivas) - Statewide Homeless Coordinators & Local Technical Assistance Centers

 

  • AB 49 (Cervantes) - CA Voter Protection Act of 2019

 

  • AB 217 (E. Garcia) - Safe Drinking Water for All Act

 

  • AB 331 (Medina) - Ethnic Studies

 

  • AB 378 (Limón) - Building a Better Early Care and Education Act

 

  • AB 539 (Limón) - Fair Access to Credit Act of 2019

 

  • AB 1307 (Rubio)- College Opportunity Act – Cal Grant Expansion Program

 

  • AB 1666 (Gómez Reyes) - 2020 Census – Providing Information at Schools

 

  • AB 1747 (Gonzalez) Protecting Californians’ Right to Privacy – DMV Driver’s Licenses

 

  • AB 1759 (Salas) - Increasing Health Care Workforce in Underserved Communities

 

  • AB 1783 (R. Rivas) - Farmworker Housing – Streamlining the Development Process

 

  • SB 29 (Durazo) - Health For All Adults – Access to Medi-Cal for the Undocumented

 

  • SB 456 (Archuleta) - Privacy Protection for Faith Based Organization Volunteers

 

  • SB 594 (Rubio) - English Language Learner Roadmap Initiative
