Sacramento – On January 23, 2025 the California Latino Legislative Caucus (CLLC) issued the following statement regarding the approval of $2.5 billion in funds for ongoing wildfire response and recovery efforts. Governor Newsom is slated to sign the relief package later today:
“During these difficult times for so many people, including approximately 74,000 Latinos affected by the fires in Los Angeles, there is nothing more important than acting quickly to respond to the moment.
“For this reason, the California Latino Legislative Caucus applauds Governor Newsom and the Legislature for working with urgency to approve a significant amount of funding to help communities that need support right now. Looking ahead, we are pleased to know these funds will boost emergency response and cleanup, help rebuild schools faster, and increase preparedness efforts to prevent the dangers that arise during extreme weather events.
“The Latino Caucus remains committed to ensuring that all Californians have access to the resources they need during these critical times and we will continue to monitor the situation closely.
“It has been heartening to see communities across the entire state come together selflessly to support those most in need, and we give our heartfelt thanks to the thousands of first responders who have bravely answered the call, and continue to work hard every day to save lives.”

Sacramento – El 23 de enero de 2025, el Grupo Parlamentario Latino de California (CLLC) emitió la siguiente declaración con respecto a la aprobación de $2.5 mil millones en fondos para los esfuerzos de respuesta y recuperación de los incendios forestales en curso. Está previsto que el gobernador Newsom firmará el paquete de ayuda hoy más tarde:
“Durante estos tiempos tan difíciles para tantas personas, incluyendo aproximadamente 74,000 Latinos afectados por los incendios en Los Ángeles, no hay nada más importante que actuar con rapidez para responder al momento.
“Por esto, el Grupo Parlamentario Latino de California aplaude al gobernador Newsom y a la Legislatura por trabajar con urgencia para aprobar una cantidad significativa de fondos para ayudar a las comunidades que necesitan apoyo en este momento.
“Mirando hacia el futuro, nos complace saber que estos fondos impulsarán la respuesta de emergencia y la limpieza, ayudarán a reconstruir las escuelas más rápidamente y aumentarán los esfuerzos de preparación para prevenir los peligros que surgen durante los eventos climáticos extremos.
“El Grupo Parlamentario Latino, recalca su dedicación a asegurar que todos los Californianos tengan acceso a los recursos que necesitan durante estos tiempos críticos y continuaremos monitoreando la situación de cerca.
