Sacramento – Throughout California, entire communities—not just immigrants—are feeling the devastating impact of cruel federal immigration raids that are terrorizing neighborhoods and tearing families apart. In a strong show of solidarity and action, the California Latino Legislative Caucus (CLLC) joined by Dolores Huerta, Diversity Caucus Members, legislators, Capitol staff and community advocates held a press conference speaking up against the egregious and immoral federal immigration enforcement actions. Later, the Senate passed Joint Resolution (SJR 9) by a 29–6 vote, denouncing the raids.
In addition, the Latino Caucus has championed a strong slate of policies to protect immigrant families and uphold their rights. This includes funding to support legal aid organizations and a recent proposal to fast-track immigration-related bills that ensure safe access to schools, healthcare facilities, and workplaces.
“Today, we came together at the State Capitol as immigrant daughters, sons, families, neighbors, and allies to denounce the federally-sanctioned terror that’s instilling deep fear, trauma, and devastation in our communities,” said Senator Lena Gonzalez (D-Long Beach), Latino Caucus Chair. “As we go into Independence Day weekend, it’s more important than ever to stand up for the values of liberty and justice by standing with our immigrant communities. With the passage of SJR 9, we’re doing just that, taking a resolute stance against these inhumane immigration raids and reaffirming our commitment to continuing the work toward justice.”
“As the sons and daughters of immigrants, we gather together to send a clear message: we oppose Trump's reign of terror,” said Assemblymember Liz Ortega (D-San Leandro), Latino Caucus Northern California Vice Chair. “The Trump administration isn’t going after criminals—they are coming after mothers, fathers, and neighbors. And to that we say enough. By passing SJR 9, we issue an unequivocal rejection of the actions by the federal government and urge an immediate end to this injustice. If they can come after immigrants, they can come after you.”

Sacramento – En todo California, comunidades enteras, no solo inmigrantes, están sintiendo el impacto devastador de las crueles redadas federales de inmigración que aterrorizan vecindarios y separan familias. En una contundente muestra de solidaridad y acción, el Grupo Parlamentario Latino de California (CLLC), acompañado por Dolores Huerta, miembros de los Grupos Parlamentarios de Diversidad, legisladores, personal del Capitolio y defensores de la comunidad sostuvieron una conferencia de prensa en contra las atroces e inmorales medidas federales de control migratorio. Posteriormente, el Senado aprobó la Resolución Conjunta (SJR 9) 29 a 6 votos, denunciando las redadas.
Además, el Grupo Parlamentario Latino ha abogado por un sólido conjunto de políticas para proteger a las familias inmigrantes y defender sus derechos. Esto incluye financiación para apoyar a las organizaciones de asistencia legal y una propuesta reciente para agilizar los proyectos de ley relacionados con la inmigración para proteger el acceso seguro a escuelas, centros de salud y lugares de trabajo.
“Hoy nos reunimos en el Capitolio Estatal como hijas, hijos, familias, vecinos y aliados de la comunidad inmigrante para denunciar el terror permitido por el gobierno federal que está infundiendo un profundo miedo, trauma y devastación en nuestras comunidades”, declaró la senadora Lena Gonzalez (D- Long Beach), presidenta del Grupo Parlamentario Latino. “Al aproximarnos al fin de semana del Día de la Independencia, es más importante que nunca defender los valores de la libertad y la justicia, apoyando a nuestras comunidades inmigrantes. Con la aprobación de la resolución conjunta del senado SJR 9, estamos haciendo precisamente eso: tomando una postura firme contra estas redadas migratorias inhumanas y reafirmando nuestro compromiso de continuar trabajando por la justicia”.
“Como hijos e hijas de inmigrantes, nos unimos para enviar un mensaje claro: nos oponemos al régimen de terror de Trump”, declaró la Asambleísta Liz Ortega (D-San Leandro), Vicepresidenta del Grupo Parlamentario Latino, región Norte de California. “El gobierno de Trump no persigue a los criminales; persigue a madres, padres y vecinos. Y ante eso, decimos basta. Al aprobar la SJR 9, rechazamos rotundamente las acciones del gobierno federal e instamos a que se ponga fin de inmediato a esta injusticia. Si pueden perseguir a los inmigrantes, pueden perseguirlos a ustedes”.

Conozco de primera mano el valor que los inmigrantes aportan a este estado y a nuestra nación.
