SACRAMENTO – Today, the California Latino Legislative Caucus is pleased to honor its distinguished recipients of the Latino Spirit Awards.
Established in 2002, the Latino Caucus hosts the awards to celebrate individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to empowering the greater Latino community in their respective fields. The 2015 Latino Spirit Award honorees include:
Judge Frances Muñoz, Achievement in Law & Public Service
Northgate Gonzalez Market, Achievement in Business & Philanthropy
Blanca Ramirez, Dynamic Youth Award
Sergio Romo, Achievement in Athletics
Maria Elena Durazo, Achievement in Public Service
José R. Padilla, Achievement in Law & Public Service
Rolando Herrera, Achievement in Business
“The Latino Caucus is proud to honor these individuals and their achievements as Latinos and as Californians,” states Caucus Chairman, Assemblymember Luis Alejo. “We are celebrating some of the best the state has to offer from public servants, athletes, business leaders – all who dared to dream big and achieved.”
Many of the honorees are leaders in their fields and have overcome tremendous obstacles, rising to become role models and community leaders. They serve as a reminder of the talent within the state’s diverse Latino community and are a source of inspiration to all Californians.
“We are proud to foster an environment that allows our talent to flourish for a stronger California,” states Vice-Chairman Senator Ben Hueso. “These honorees have helped pave the way for future leaders and serve as a reminder of the dynamic spirit within the Latino community.”
