Sacramento – On May 14, 2025 the California Latino Legislative Caucus (CLLC) issued the following statement regarding Governor Newsom’s May Revise:
“In a year we knew would present significant budget challenges, California is now facing a projected $16 billion revenue loss—driven by Trump’s tariffs, which continue to wreak havoc on our economy.
“At the same time, the federal administration is doubling down on harmful, draconian policies that threaten essential programs our families rely on—while billionaires enjoy tax breaks and the rich get richer.
“We must push back. Now more than ever, we must protect access to critical resources like healthcare for all. As the Latino Caucus, we are committed to doing everything in our power to mitigate the impact of these reckless federal actions and ensure California’s budget reflects our values—by investing public dollars in ways that truly uplift working families.
“We stand ready to work with the Governor and our colleagues in the Legislature to pass a responsible, well-balanced budget that protects what matters most and builds on what makes California the 4th largest economy in the world.”
