Latino Caucus Urges NBCUniversal to Disinvite Donald Trump from Hosting Saturday Night Live

(SACRAMENTO) – On behalf of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, Chairman Luis Alejo (D-Salinas) issued a letter to the Presidents of Comcast and NBCUniversal expressing their deep concern and disappointment regarding the decision to invite and allow Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump to serve as a guest host of Saturday Night Live on November 7th.  The letter states:

Saturday Night Live (SNL) may be a comedy show, but inviting a host that believes the largest ethnic group in the country consists of rapist and criminals with “lots of problems” is not only wrong, but it makes NBCUniversal complicit in demeaning an entire community.  This is not a laughing matter, and on behalf of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, we sincerely hope you will reconsider your decision and stand with the diversity that has made our nation great and disinvite Mr. Trump from hosting SNL

Earlier this year, NBCUniversal demonstrated true leadership when they stood up against Mr. Trump’s derogatory statements against immigrants and ended its business relationship with him, including cancelling the Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, as well as his participation in the highly rated The Apprentice.  NBCUniversal made this decision despite these shows boosting high ratings, but it was the right thing to do and we applauded your leadership.

Today, we ask you to once again do the right thing and not only disinvite Mr. Trump from hosting SNL, but to publically renounce Mr. Trump’s hateful rhetoric against the Latino and immigrant communities.”
