SACRAMENTO - In response to last week's unveiling of the Biden Administration’s immigration proposal, which includes a pathway to citizenship for nearly 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States, Senator María Elena Durazo (D-Los Angeles), Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, and Assemblymember Robert Rivas (D-Hollister), Vice-Chair of the Latino Caucus, issued the following statements:

SACRAMENTO - Yesterday, on his first day in office, President Joe Biden sent a major immigration proposal to Congress to provide a pathway to citizenship for the more than 11 million undocumented immigrants living across the United States. Approximately two million Californians are undocumented immigrants.

The Biden administration also released their plans to protect and strengthen DACA protections, including a push to create an immediate path to citizenship for these young immigrants who've grown up in the United States.

SACRAMENTO – The California Latino Legislative Caucus (CLLC) announced today that Senator María Elena Durazo (D-Los Angeles) has been elected to serve as the caucus Chair for the 2021-22 legislative session. Assemblymember Robert Rivas (D-Hollister) was elected as Vice-Chair. Chairs are limited to one, two-year term. Comprised of 29 State Legislators (7 Senators and 22 Assemblymembers), including a record-high 16 Latinas, the CLLC serves as a forum to develop avenues to empower the Latino community throughout California.

SACRAMENTO – Today, the California Latino Legislative Caucus is announcing a new two-year initiative to address the continued and growing inequality that California Latinas experience in economic outcomes, career and leadership opportunities, and education in the state.
