Statement from the California Latino Legislative Caucus Celebrating Cesar Chavez Day

Sacramento, CA – Today the members of the California Latino Legislative Caucus released the following joint statement:

“Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of one of California’s most important heroes, Cesar Chavez.”

“Earlier this month, the members of the Latino Caucus had the honor of joining Cesar Chavez’ family and friends in screening the new movie about his struggle to advance the cause of fairness and justice for farmworkers in California and around the country.” 

Major CA Caucuses Urge President to Change Deportation Policies, Take Executive Action

SACRAMENTO – Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Huntington Park/Long Beach), Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, along with chairs of the state’s major Legislative Caucuses called on President Barack Obama to change his Administration’s deportation policies and take executive action to end unnecessary separation of families. 

Latino Caucus Seeks Expedited Implementation of New Driver's License Legislation

SACRAMENTO, CA - Today, the California Latino Legislative Caucus sent a letter to the Director of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) urging an expedited implementation of Assembly Bill 60 which was signed into law last year.  AB 60, which allows for the issuance of driver’s licenses to undocumented residents, was authored by Assembly Member Luis Alejo (D – Salinas) and co-authored by members of the Latino Caucus. Passage of the bill was a top priority of the Caucus.
