SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Luis Alejo (D-Salinas), Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, and Vice-Chair Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego), issued the following statement regarding today’s Budget agreement.

“While Congress continues to shirk its responsibility to pass comprehensive immigration reform, California is once again leading the way with significant and meaningful investments towards improving the lives of immigrants throughout the state.

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Luis Alejo (D-Salinas), Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, and Vice-Chair Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego), issued the following statement regarding the Library of Congress appointing Juan Felipe Herrera, a son of migrant farmworkers, the first Latino Poet Laureate of the United States.

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Luis Alejo (D-Salinas) and Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego), Chair and Vice Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, announced all nine of the Caucus’ priority bills successfully passed from their Legislative house of origin.

SACRAMENTO – In response to the upcoming United States Supreme Court consideration to redefine the “one-person, one-vote” principle, brought on by conservative activists in Texas, the respective Caucuses of the California State Legislature have issued the following statements:

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Luis Alejo (D-Salinas), Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, and Vice-Chair, Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego), introduced Assembly Joint Resolution 19, urging Congress to allow immigrants to serve in the military if they are eligible for deportation relief under the President’s Executive Orders for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Deferred Action for Parents of Americans (DAPA) or Lawful Permanent Residents.
